A Very Creative Day at Brewers Sewing Machines, Wolverhampton!

On Saturday 21st April, Melanie visited Brewers for a 'Try before you buy' event. Here's some news that she was itching to pass on:

----------------------------------------------------------------
Union Jack Dress

I met a lady called Debra Harper of 'OhSewDebra.com'. Debra is running all kinds of classes upstairs at Brewers.

Patchwork Union Jack

Union Jack Dress
From complete beginner, to get to know your sewing machine, patchwork, support with A Level and all kinds of advanced techniques. Debra runs the classes at your pace, so whatever your skill level you can join in and have fun!

Multi-coloured Apron

Debra's also created this cheery apron on her Brother Overlocker!

The pockets and buttons were attached using her Brother Innov-is 1250.

What a lovely way to demonstrate that overlockers do sew much more than neat seams.

Debra's designs can be found at:

Emma's Innov-is 50 decorated with flowers!
I also met Emma from 'Minty Pink Custard'
She had decorated her Brother Innov-is 50 with some lovely flowers!
I’m sure this inspires her to create her lovely range of bright and cheerful bags, hair clips, cushions & phone cases.

We love Emma's Camper Van Cushion!

Emma is a regular at Brewers classes too, making the most of her creativity and sharing her inspiration with others.

Libby with her fabulous quilt
Libby is an A Level student local to Brewers Sewing Machines who is coming along to the classes to get help with her projects.
This very interesting piece has loads of detail where Libby has hand and machine embroidered, and painted & quilted various parts.
Libby is planning ahead for her Textile degree and we can see she will do well.
Great work Libby!

I met the lady who makes these gorgeous dolls. Made with 100% fabric; all profits are sent to Water Aid in Africa.
Here is just one of the dolls resting beside our Innov-is NX2000 before her journey to a new home!

MaisyMuffin dolls can be found here:

And finally here we have Owner of Brewers Sewing Machines; Kathleen Brewer who has been very busy on her Innov-is 2200 with the Laura Ashley designs.

On her Jacket you can see the beautiful Laura Ashley embroidery and on her shirt you can see another design built into the Innov-is 2200.
Beautiful work Kathleen!

Don't forget that Brewers have Brother machines in their classroom to use so you can sign up for a class even if you don’t own a machine.

  1. It's lovely to see sewing coming back into fashion, and with these lovely all-singing, all-dancing machines available now, everyone can, and should be creative.
