We were at Sewing for Pleasure for the last few days. Thank you all for visiting and sharing your sewing passion with us. It was certainly a busy show - with lots of you popping over to say hi!

We didn't have much time to wander around this year, but below are a few things that really stood out for us at the show.

This wonderful piece of art entitled 'Lion and the Lamb' is made by textile artist Joan Prowse. It's a 3D representation made by a process called needle felting.

It's impossible to fully appreciate this piece from a photograph, but it's built up by many layers of wool that are interwoven together using special needles. The many layers then create a wonderful 3D effect that really jumps out from the canvas.

Needle felting is a really versatile discipline, and working in wool and textiles means that Joan's artwork can have a realism that is unachievable in any other 2-dimensional medium.

This scene depicting St George and the Dragon was incredibly lifelike - just look at the sky colours. So realistic!

Joan has her own website and can be found here or at projo1joan@yahoo.co.uk

These wonderful soft toys are the creation of House of Zandra. They are sewing patterns to create wonderful felt soft toys using your own felt. Great way to start your children in the sewing world!

House of Zandra can be found here.

We were also showing one of the great features of our very own XV sewing, quilting & embroidery machines.

Our scan frame kit is able to scan a line drawing (here it is a drawing of a fairy) and convert it to stitches to create your very own artwork.

Here you can see the image of the fairy on the machine screen, and the early stages of it being embroidered onto a piece of calico.

An hour or two later the finished article - would look great on a child's cushion, or bedspread.

Dates for 2019 are still to be announced. But details for the show can be found here.

See you next year!
